In looking at the resulting material from your shoot, what would you improve the next time you set up a shoot?
What can you do now in editing to fix or improve any of these problems?
Is it best to fix in 'post production editing', or get it right during the shoot?
It is always a good idea to vary your shots, and with just a little more planning beforehand that could be achieved. To create closeups, all you have to do is zoom in on the shots in Final Cut, but this among most edits would be better to be prevented by getting it right in the shoot. The one benefit is that now the shots can be both closeup or zoomed out instead of being cemented into one or the other.

ReplyDeleteUse the crane and be more prepared because we had a lot of time taken away from us due to the light that caught on fire. I think its best to shoot it right during the shoot rather then pos editing because it is easier and it tends to have a better looking outcome.
ReplyDeleteTo improve the shots, I would probably plan things better in order to get the best shot that I can. In editing, I can use the wireframe to adjust the screen to my needs, so as to zoom in or zoom out. It is probably better to get it right during the shoot so the editing process is smoother and it sets a standard to get it right during the shoot.
ReplyDeleteto improve our results we should have framed our shots correctly so we don't have the background garbage. In the editing there is only so much we can do to get the garbage out of our frame.
ReplyDeleteNext time I would only use two cameras and stick to the shots preconceived on the storyboard. But we can work with using what we have by using wireframes in final cut.
ReplyDeleteIt's always best to get it right while shooting.

ReplyDeletewe should make sure that we have all of the materials we need and know how to use them. We can cut things out of the shot and in the scene that are unnecessary so the scene looks smoother. It's best to do both; in post production and during the shoot so that the scene is the way you want it.
ReplyDeleteBe more prepared (because of the time lost dealing with the burning light) and to try and use more varied shots.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of things we could have done better. I think what we really needed to do was to move our set around more before starting so we weren't so limited by useable space. It is always better to do things right in the shoot. There are a few problems that we cannot fix through editing.
ReplyDeleteBy looking at our shots, I can see that we should've tightened some of our shots and made sure that there wasn't a lot of empty space in our shots. We also could've made our pans smoother and cleaner. In editing, the only thing we can do to fix the shot is change the wireframe so that the shot will be zoomed in or out. It would be easier to fix it during the shoot so that we don't have to focus so long on editing. However, since we didn't have a lot of time, we were forced to just use what we had and work a lot more on the editing.
ReplyDeleteI would have planned a little bit more before because we only got 10 minutes to shoot and every second counts. We can use color correction for the lighting and change the sound levels. Also, we can use transitions so the clips flow and not have any jump cuts. I feel like its best to get it right during the shoot and also fix it in the editing process. Because a project can never be perfect, i feel like that's the only way.
ReplyDeleteUse a crane and plan out the shots better. We could also try acting it out before hand. We could also diversify our shots by, for example, having both people in the discussion rather than just one
ReplyDeleteI would improve shot variety and I would improve the focus and the acting. I think that our video can be improved in our editing, but there would be marginal improvements by that. I can add color correction and use wireframes to improve the shots and angles, but it would be better to get it right during production.
ReplyDeleteThe set we shot on wasn't exactly appropriate for our movie so if we had shot somewhere that fit better for our video it would have made editing a bit easier. Changing this would have been better for editing and and the shoot itself.
ReplyDeleteHow we set up shots, acting and also be aware o the background materials showing in our shot. Have to practice a lot more before and be sure we know how we want to shoot and from what angle, we all remember our lines, the shots are more clear. Work a lot faster in the studio since we have such a limited time.
ReplyDeletemake sure that you use the lights to help the feel/emotion that you are going for. In editing, you can use filters and effects to improve these problems. I believe that it is better to get the problems fixed in the shoot because then when you go to editing, you can focus on other, more important aspects of your shoot.
ReplyDeleteI have not look at all the shots yet. I believe the video would be more successful with more different angle shots.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the best to fix in post production editing because you might not be able to have the actors in the same spot, exact hair, etc. It's best to get it right during the shoot.
But then again some people may disagree and say it could be better due to the fact you know what to film, and what you need to film
next time there would be more focus on getting a variety of shots
ReplyDeletethere would be more planning as to camera set up
the shots would be well planned so that there would not have to be repeats
there is a limited amount that can be changed during editing so its probably more important to get the shots right during the filming process
Set up quickly and get to work as quickly as possible. We need to work very quickly we wasted a lot of time during the last shoot. we cant do anything because our problem,is we dont have any shots. Both are important. without good shots it's hard to be able to fix it in post. without good editting though it wont look good.

ReplyDeleteWe shot any footage yet we will go over all the other people comments to learn from their mistakes.
ReplyDeleteWe have not filmed yet but we plan on doing that today.
ReplyDeletewe didnt shoot yet
ReplyDeleteI would use a tripod on more shots because we had a lot of unintentional shaking in a couple shots. It is better to get the shot done right the first time rather than fix it by editing it because it makes it look more natural
ReplyDeleteWe could have taken multiple shots of each part of the film and be more efficient, because some of the shots we took did not come out too well, and we only had one shot of that particular scene.
ReplyDeleteDespite planning, we were unable to shoot efficiently. Also, a few shots were rendered unusable because of lighting or shooting issues. It is more important to take good-quality footage before editing because not all mistakes can be fixed easily during the editing process.
ReplyDeletethe main problems we faced was that the shots themselves were not tight enough mostly due to the fact that the set was so small and not really made for the shots we needed. next time we will try to shoot somewhere where we can get the shots that we need.
ReplyDeleteI think we could have rehearsed before hand, some of our shots were not serious; a lot of talking and laughing. We can use transitions like cross fade to smoothly combine the scenes. I believe executing the shot is important in order to produce a quality product, which will help make editing easier.
ReplyDeleteMake sure that you use the lights to help the color stay the same and to feel that you are going for. In editing, using filters and effects to improve these problems. I believe that it is better to get the problems earlier and fix it in the shoot because then when editing you can make the video look more natural.
ReplyDeleteNext time I would use a second camera, so we have at least two different shots for each scene. I would also film a few scenes multiple times, so I know that we have at least one shot that will work in the final project.
ReplyDeleteWe would next time not let pieces of equipment from the studio get into our shot, and we would make sure each shot was good before moving on to the next one.
ReplyDeleteTo improve, I would probably improve the sound and fix the shadows. I will probably make the volume louder in the edit and maybe make the shots a little lighter. I think it's better to get it right during the shoot!
ReplyDeleteLooking back at our shots we we're talking in some of them, but I could edit that out, also the actors were smiling and laughing during the shot. but we managed to take that out with some simple editing. It is better to get the shot from the first time, so there will be less post-production editing.
ReplyDeleteIn the future I would try to make sure that we were comfortable in the space we were filming in. We were expecting a larger amount of room to film and were left rather shocked when we entered the small filming area. If we had been more prepared for dealing with the space. It would also have been helpful I we knew that we could film scenes with the lights in the background. I believe the footage would have turned out much better. I think that it is always important to get as much "perfect" footage as possible during the shoot, so that during the editing process you could be more focused on fixing the little things and not fixing huge mistakes.
ReplyDeleteWell, we had some technical difficulties at the beginning of the shooting, one of the lights decided not to work very well, therefore we would need to make sure everything works before we start filming. As for editing, more general knowledge of final cut would be very useful.
ReplyDeletewe would set up the shots differently and make sure to have more planning and figuring out how to get the shots we wanted. We would also like to make sure the camera exposure is on the right setting.
ReplyDeleteI would have improved the size of our shots and the quality, some were too close up and some were too wide. Right now I can fix the size with the wireframe in Final Cut, but it is not as good as getting it right the first time. It is much better to get it right in the shoot.
ReplyDeleteWe would set up the camera at different angles to give the audience a better view of the characters. Also, I would fix the lighting a little bit because there was a slight lens flare. I took several shots so I could mix them while editing to put out a better movie.
