The attached infographic (data visualization) is a result of feeding all of the words of moby dick into a software program, eliminating all 3 letter and below words, and finally displaying all the rest of the words visually. If you could feed the words of a book into a software program that would allow you to manipulate and display the words in a different way, what would you do? How would you visualize the words of a book in a single frame?
I woud visualize all the words of The Crucible in different colored bubbles.

ReplyDeleteI particularly like images that form actual pictures. If I could do this I would tell the processor to overlay the words in a way that would form a landscape or memorable scene from the book. For instance, I would have it piece all the words of Lord of the Rings together into an image of the Shire.

ReplyDeleteI would form a sort of tunnel that would spit out all the words one by one. They would form the sentences of the book. Occasionally an image would pop out instead of word. For example, a picture of a whale instead of the word "whale".

Depending on how much the word is repeated the images of the same word would be smaller. If the word was not in the database of words then it would not display it.
