Poets/Icons Monday

Class period for productions: 5 Blocks, 2 Mondays, Due Dec 5th, end of class

Due the end of this week for credit/10 pts each:

  1. Storyboard that details audio/narration, camerawork, duration. Please see here for example of what I am looking for. Your options for visuals are quite simple. You may source photos representing the mood of the shot you would like to create, or you may draw a picture. If you draw, you may use a pen stylus and work in Photoshop to create pictures. Then Save the Photoshop file as a jpg, or simply cut the picture out in Photoshop and paste it in the google drawing file.
  2. Shot sheet, please use the template here as a guide. This is the format you should use.
Poet Blogspot response for Monday: please tell me your role in the project and when you plan to have video to edit. Who will be your editor? How many class periods will you reserve for editing a final piece? What about music and appropriate sound effects, what are your plans? Remember, music usage must fall within legal copyright limits (see me if you do not know).

  1. My role in the project is as storyboard artist and because our group is so small, we will all be a part of production and final editing. We will try to reserve as many class periods as possible for edtiting because the bulk of our filming will be done outside of school. We are currently looking for the perfect song to match the mood we want for our video.

  2. I will be an animator/editor. I will also be the dramatic reader of the poem. As soon as we start having animations we are going to have to compile them and edit everything together. If we can get all the animating done within the first three or so block periods, it should still have plenty of time to get completely edited. Rebecca will deal with all audio. Hopefully, she will follow copyright law.

  3. My role in the project is to edit the video with Final Cut. We plan to have a video to edit starting tomorrow if we finish the storyboard today. We plan to reserve as many class periods that we need to edit the final piece. Appropriate music will be used to compliment the poem and whatever sound effects are needed will be used.

    1. Yes. I think that's what you're doing. Today I'll be finishing the storyboard and placing the time durations on the script.

      I've really wanted to use this track in a project, so if it works, please incorporate it.

      Also please let me know which After Effects shots are needed. I'll put an up what I believe what shots need AE editing.

  4. For my group by job is to design the storyboard and create the set. I also have to time the poetry lines. Blake and Morteza are the editors. I will chose the music and sound effects and be sure to follow copyright limits.

  5. My role in the project is filming. kevin lee is doing final cut and Aditya is doing after effects. We will try to make sure that after filming it will go straight to final cut then after effects so everyone have something to do and make use of class period possible. Music will be light and and compliments the poem.

  6. I will most likely either shoot the film or edit the shots. Sydney will be the director/ storyboard artist as she handles the organization of the film. Just to be safe, I would say two class periods should be reserved for editing. The music shouldn't be too crazy as she shouldn't drown out the poem. It should be background nothing more and nothing less.

  7. Andrew will be acting, I will edit, madeline can work on story board and costumes/special effects. We will edit the week after thanksgiving. We will get music from youtube, their wont be that much music though.

    1. If music please make sure it meets copyright standards, 30 or less seconds and it must be transformative-you need to do something with it to transform it, this can be accomplished in Garage Band or other sound. An alterative is SoundCloud, or another sound related website with copyright restrictions lifted.

  8. My role in the project is the compiler as well as a storyboard artist. Since we are doing stop motion animation, we will need to use a lot of time in here to work on animations. Every day, we will usually have a person working on the animation because it will require so much effort. We should have all of it done in the next 3 weeks. Our music won't be a huge part of the animation; it will mainly serve as a backdrop for Blake's voice.

    1. Stop motion firstly requires the artwork to be made. Plan at least a day for that-get some construction paper and scissors. The stop motion that follows probably will also require 2 class periods. What is the length of your poem? Once you know that, you can determine a frame rate, such as 5-12fps. Then extrapolate that over the duration of your audio. That will tell you how many movements you need to capture with your camera. It will be fun. Bring supplies soon!

  9. I would most likely be the editor and i will probable need about 2 block periods and maybe a monday but it might not be needed. The music should not be loud, just very low in the background so it could help the video flow.

  10. My role in this project is to help create the video, and to help with editing. Tony will be the main editor and we will all collaborate on our time schedule and what we need to get done during our class periods .

  11. I will be storyboarding and writing the script for our film. Also, I will be involved in production and filming each shot. I plan to have video to edit by next tuesday. Samir and I will edit the video, and Alana will act in it. We will reserve around 3-4 class periods to edit the film. We will add an appropriate song to fit the theme of the poem.

In my group, the work is more spread out evenly instead of having specific roles, this way we can help each other overcome possible problems faster by having more people work on the same thing, but the work will just be divided among the group members. We will keep as many class periods open to editing, by doing the work efficiently throughout this week.

  13. We are all going to be storyboarding the film, as well as help filming the different shots, as they are all inanimate options. I am likely going to be editing atleast a majority of the film which will be difficult as I do not have enough background in editing to be completely confident and fluent, as I am sure I will run into some roadblocks and speed bumps. Noah is helping film the project as well as help me edit the project. We will keep around 3/4 class periods in order to finish editing, and the rest of the time starting next block period to begin filming. We have a rough shot sheet and a very good idea of what we need to film our shots - lots of props and good backgrounds.

  14. I will be a contributor which means I'll look for the scenes we'll use for our intro and provide input for ideas. We already have the appropriate music selected and we'll use as much time as we can get for the editing. we have two editors: Gonzy and Billy.

  15. I am helping with the storyboard and im the actress and we'll have video on thurs. 21st. Samir is our editor. 3 class pds for editing We'll have some music towards the end. My plan was to look for some music from youtube unless its an issue. Then, there probably wont be any music unless there is another simpler way to find some.

In my group, the work is evenly distributed between group members so that it will be easier to collaborate when we combine our work; we will work as quickly and efficiently as we can throughout this week so that we can leave as many class periods open as we need to edit. We will get the music from youtube or other outside, cited sources.

  18. I would be gathering information on my icon such as videos, pictures and keynote presentations adding them to our folder. Once we have all the needed information we can begin to edit. I know that Nima is amazing with editing so he will be lead editor.

  19. I will be doing a mashup of Tarantino scenes that have to do with my significant achievements. I will be the overall editor, though each person shall be editing their own part unless they need help. all class periods shall be used. we shall be using music but we haven't decided what music. I shall be doing a mashup, parsa shall as well, maddie will be finding one of chaplin's short films and parsa will be doing a mashup as well

    2. There is not a requirement to storyboard if your project is based on an icon. Icon projects are really more like mini-documentaries, which rely on other processes for planning. There is however a requirement for a media list, as linked to on this blog. Thanks

  20. Everyone in our group will be doing their own mashup of their icon. I will use final cut to create a mashup for alfred Hitchcock and add appropriate audio and sound effects. All class periods will be used to create the mash ups.

  22. i have to find videos for my own icon. Then i will also edit at the end. We will need a full period and a half to edit the project and also we will be getting our music from youtube and our sound effects from sound bible.

  23. I am going to work on the storyboard and the title animation. I can also help edit if it is needed. If we get the filming done in the first block periods and Mondays, then we can get two days to edit the project.

  28. Jacob's description of jobs is pretty accurate, although Jacob and Andrew's jobs may be switched depending on who can meet after school to film. Our audio will be a voice over by Andrew of the poem, and subtle background music.

  29. For the project I shall be the actor, Jacob will be the editor, and Madeline will be in charge of post production. We will leave two full block periods to edit. There will be a minimal amount of music, if any. My voice and some snow sounds would be the majority of audio.

  30. Everyone in our group will be searching for things to use such as videos or pictures or just general information that we can use. Once we feel we have a good amount of material, we will have a main editor who would probably do the majority of the editing, but we will all have input and help wherever we can.

  35. I will be finding media for my own icon on the internet. We will all storyboard together and edit together once we all have found enough media for our icons.We expect Mihir to help with storyboard, editing and handling most of the audio.

  37. I will use Final Cut to edit the piece. Our whole group will work collaboratively to create a storyboard. We will hopefully have the piece ready to edit after Thanksgiving break, leaving us about 2.5 days to edit.

  38. I will be doing production and editing with Alec and George, while After Effects will be left up to Addison and animation will be left up to Meeta. Because we have a large number of people editing, we will reserve only the last one and a half classes for editing and use the rest of the class periods for filming. Music and sound effects have already been decided upon

  39. I agree with Sydney and Kevin. Since our group is so small (which I personally like), we will all be contributing. We will all be filming, editing, and Sydney will mainly be doing the storyboard because she is talented with art. I will also be helping with ideas for the storyboard because I am into planning the film.

  40. I will be looking for the media for my icon and we will all be doing this and starting to put together what order we want the media in and ideas for the mash-up. I will be the main editor and Margo will help me, and we will start editing once we have all the media together for our icons. We will each put together the music/effects for our own icon. We are going to see if Ryan can do an animation for the start of the presentation.

  41. So, Madison is our editor, and i will be there to help her if she needs help.My individual role is to find clips and quotes of my icon that shows his Significant achievements. For music we will use our individual music of our different characters when we are presenting. We are hoping to have 2 days of editing.

  42. Our editor will be Madison Gress with Margo Pevar's assistance. Mine and Margo's job is to find significant clips of the icons that are very important and play a big role in their fame. We're all going to individually find significant pictures of our own icons to include in the video. We plan to edit for 2 days and reserve 2 class periods to do so, possibly tutorials and stay after school editing if we need to.

  43. I think we will all need to do a little of everything if we want to succeed with this project. My main role, however, will be primarily production and maybe acting. We will reserve 3/4 blocks for editing as a group, we will use addison for anythng with after effects
