3 Ideas/Approaches/Solutions

Why do clients normally expect to see 3 ideas or solutions when promoting a product or service?

  2. Clients normally expect too see 3 ideas because they want to have options that they can choose from. Multiple options allow one to choose the best one instead of having to stick to one. Also, they can use each idea to see which idea will be the most attractive to audiences.

The client and the designer have two different views and dreams about what they think the product should be like, so for a better chance at hitting where the client wants it, the designer should throw out a few ideas. That way he or she can insure the happiness of his or her client.

  8. Clients like to see what they're going to be spending their money on. They don't want to be wasting money on something that doesn't do anything, they want to be be utilizing their money on a product that will be worth it and something new that can do new cool things.

  18. Providing the client with a variety of ideas/solutions gives across an understanding of professionalism. It shows that the client can trust the business, seeing as it has provided all of these possibilities, and gives the consumer the opportunity to take a look at three different perspectives that they likely would not have envisioned on their own. Three is also not an overwhelming number, and can easily embody very unique concepts to make the selection process faster and more efficient.

  19. Since there are many different factors to pleasing a crowd, it is always good to have at least two other options. Also there could be political or social reasons why one promotion might not work.

Not only does this show how limited the person pitching the idea is but also how the client doesn't have much room to adjust the project. If there are three ideas or solutions when promoted, the client can choose the preferred approach, make a combination of the three or take one they like and add their own input to make it more personal.

  27. Clients want to make sure that they have options and fall back plans in case one doesn't work. Also 3 ideas gives the product more directions and space to improve or go into if for any reason one direction doesn't work, or if another one is better.

  31. clients want 3 approaches for a product because they want to know that the filmmaker has more ideas than just a single approach to the product. they want to also want to have backup ideas just in case one of the ideas doesnt work.

Having many plan B's almost always helps the client hire you too.

  44. Beacuse the clients can pick from these 3 ideas if they dont like the first idea. Also if thee 3 ideas are bad they make the first idea look better. More products to sell if there is more than one idea. More $. It helps me look better and think of better ideas.

  46. I think the client will want to hear multiple pitches on different ideas because if they don't like your original idea its good to have a backup and if your Plan A and Plan B don't work out, then it is good to have a Plan C!

If there was only one reason to buy the product the client would feel a little trapped. the more reasons to buy a product the better. if there is more than one idea they can be shaved down to the cream of the crop and therefore end up with the best product.

Also, 3 ideas might allow one to combine ideas to make even better ideas for a project. Often, the best ideas are comprehensive, containing the best element of many more ideas. These type of ideas can only be created by being open to brainstorming many ideas, at first. The creative process must always be open. In order for it to be open, it has to be open to limitless possibilities.
