Restrepo and absolutely, it shed a completely different light on the issues in the middle east.

DeleteI really enjoyed An Inconvenient Truth. I thought it was good because it kept your attention with shocking facts from credible scientists and professors from all over the place.

ReplyDeletea long time ago i watched a documentary about nature and how they adapt to their environment. It really showed what needs to be done for survival between different animals. Thats all i can remember.
ReplyDeleteBully was a documentary I recently watched on Netflix. The documentary gave us the perspective of the victims of bullying and their parents, truly shedding light on the emotional and physical effects of bullying in school. It was believable because it showed firsthand how damaging bullying had been on the kids, and used emotion to get the viewers to sympathize with the victims.
ReplyDeleteIt was a documentary on the 101st airborne division that participated in a multitude of key battles in World War Two. Immediately, it caught my attention by showing the images of the 101st airborne before the war and after. Then, it showed a map of where they had fought and by adding a very emotional soundtrack, it truly gripped my attention. It was credible because of the fact that it was on the Military Channel and because the men interviewed were real members rather than historians that had not actually been a participant in the war.
ReplyDeleteCraigslist Joe; a story about a man who leaves to travel the united states with nothing but a laptop and laptop charger in his backpack. A friend and camera man follows him as he uses craigslist and free wifi to catch rides and barter for food. It's a story about community and helping a 'brutha out through the conveniences of technology. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteInside Job, the documentary about the cause of the financial recession, which also won the 2010 Academy Award for the Best Documentary. The documentary used many examples, insider documents, and other news to keep people's attention. Alan Greenspan, and other famous people gave testimonials about the financial crash. This use of primary documents and insider testimonials gave the documentary legitimacy.
ReplyDeleteThe documentary on the Donner Party was very informative, detailing the experience of the Donner Party. The documentary used diary entries from people in the Donner Party and the views of historians who have studied the history of the Donner Party.

ReplyDeleteI thought it was good because it helped us learn the material we were learning in history. It was very credible because our teacher showed it to us and we already had basic knowledge on it, and the video matched up with our basic knowledge of it..
I enjoy watching the History Channel because the channel always has different documentaries on different periods of time. My most favorite documentary was the documentary on D-Day because it grabbed my attention with the old pictures and the facts about the war that i never knew. It was believable because they had veterans and people that witnessed the war firsthand.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this documentary called "10000 hours". I thought it was really good because it was so believable. It took a group of kids from Millbrae and tested them with the 10,000 hours theory and started to make them great basketball players. It really captured the hidden scenes of success and hard work and shined a different light on me.
ReplyDeleteI watched a non-narrative documentary called Baraka. It was an interesting take on the world and also the documentary genre.The whole movie is incredible camera shots with music spliced together to send a message and make comparisons about life.
ReplyDeleteThe documentary on The Donner Party, It opened my eyes about the history of California. The gruesome details and descriptions through the journal of people who were in the party were very informative.
ReplyDeleteI have seen many documentaries including inconvenient truth, food incorporated, fat sick and nearly dead, the cove, and many others. the things that all of these documentaries have in common is that they all give an insight into worlds that many people do not know about. this eye opening aspect of documentaries makes them a necessity to any modern curriculum.
ReplyDeleteI watch whatever is on Discovery channel, like the ones about sharks and their migration and eating habits. But I've also seen First Position, which I found interesting and credible since my cousin is a ballet dancer.
ReplyDeleteI saw a very intriguing documentary on Andy Warhol; it presented his art and the possible messages behind it in such a way that made me stop and think for a minute about how our society has developed and our place in the world today.
ReplyDeleteOne of the documentaries that i recently watched was The Cove. What made this documentary credible was that the film makers snuck cameras into the japanese dolphin slaughter house so you saw actual footage of the shady things going on. i remember clearly one of the facts i learned was that you could eat dolphin while watching Dolphins perform at the sea world in Japan.

ReplyDeleteI recently saw the documentary Supersize Me on the man who decided to see what a diet consisting only of fast food from McDonalds' after being a vegan for a large part of his life. He interviews people who could help continue and give reason to the documentary along with provide a good amount of evidence and proof behind different phenomenons being recorded by the documentary.

ReplyDeleteI watched the documentary Super Size Me. I don't remember what the directors name was but i do recall that the video was very powerful and made me think about how I wanted to eat differently. It really shed some new light on the idea that the food we put in our bodies is nasty and shouldn't be allowed to be served in a restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI saw a documentary about the Donner Party in history class. It showed the struggles and the problems that the Donner Party encountered on their journey to California. It was credible because it used diaries of the real members of the Donner Party as well as credible historians that study the topic in great depth.
ReplyDeleteThere was one documentary that stood out to me, extreme drug smuggling, it gave me a powerful insight on how people smuggle drugs over the border from Mexico, it was significant because it gave me another view of a side of America that I have never seen before.
ReplyDeleteI have watched episodes of Planet Earth about different habitats in the world and the animals in them. It informed with really interesting and hard to get footage of animals in their natural habitats. It made it credible because it was real footage from their real habitats.

The only documentary i remember watching was the Donner Party that I watched in Mr. Torren's class. It was believable because the people who were talking and commentating in the film looked and sounded scholarly.

ReplyDeleteI saw a documentary on the history channel that described the Roman Empire. I thought the detail the went into really made the ancient civilization appear more realistic to me. I was fascinated to find out just how many slaves the Romans had, and that almost all of the slaves were white. They used a change in music to make a fluid change between civilizations so that the viewer would not be confused.
ReplyDeleteLast year, I saw a documentary about the girl Malala, a girl who was shot by the Taliban in Afghanistan. The documentary interviewed Malala herself before she was killed, and there was an interview of her father and children who were being trained for the Taliban. It was very believable because most of it was an interview of Malala, which was very real.
ReplyDeleteI am somewhat familiar with documentaries. I have seen a couple in the last year. An interesting documentary was on the string theory. It was very informative and helped with visuals to understand the topic. It was creditable because the people talking were important and knowledgeable people.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in 6th or 7th grade I went to the McAfee and saw a documentary on Invisible Children. It focused on a few main children in Africa and how the war was going. What made it credible was as simple as credible sources! The mood of the documentary was very informative and sad, which made the audience sad, but wanting to support the charity.
ReplyDeleteI watched a documentary on Zlaten Ibrahimovic who is a great pro soccer player. He started from the "ghettoz" in Sweden to become one of the best players in the world and he talks of his childhood in the documentary. It informed me of his personal life and childhood. I learned of how he got to where he is and it is made up of interviews of himself so it is credible.
ReplyDeleteIn APES class a few weeks ago we watched a documentary called Food Inc. It gave an inside look into the food industry: meat, crops, etc and the gross and inhumane procedures normally keep secret to consumers. It showed how the animals are barely given any space and how GMOs rule the food industry and many other disturbing facts. It was very shocking but still believable and definitely informed my point of view.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends recently made me watch the documentary Blackfish with her which is about the killer whale Tilikum at Seaworld who has killed a number of people. It was pretty interesting because it had a lot of clips of the whales performing and then it would go to a clip of a performance gone bad. It pretty much showed how dangerous the whale trainers jobs are and how KILLER whales really shouldn't be put in a small tank.

ReplyDeleteLast documentary i have watched is the Donnar party, being a tragedy, the camera man used mostly dark shot and dark historical objects. fotage of real objects from the Donnar party and facts and pictures.
ReplyDeleteI watched a documentary a long time ago, I forget what it was called but it was about a bear man in the wilderness who believed the bears wouldn't attack him and were harmless, but then he got eventually killed during salmon shortage. It had a lot of great stock footage in it. It looked very believable.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most powerful documentary's I've watch is the Inside Job. Although differing from my political views on certain issues, the documentary informed me of a viewpoint of a the economic crisis of 2008 that I had never thought of before. The documentary effectively combined interviews(from both sides of the crisis) with stock footage, narratives, and emotionally, tugging patriotic imagery. This combination surly opened my mind to new ideas.

ReplyDeleteThere have been a few documentaries that have interested me, one of them is World War 2 from space, the main portion of the film was how the world changed because of the war. Then it went into great detail by showing primary source footage from the war and having historians explain the situation that was going on. Another documentary is Soviet Storm, because it is made by the soviet government, it has tons of biased information, but I watch it because it has tons of really cool cut scenes with actors.
